Accurately weigh the starting trigger weight of your gun.
The Wheeler® Trigger Pull Scale accurately measures trigger pull weight from 8 ounces to 8 pounds. It features an ergonomic handle for consistent pull direction. Highly visible increment markings and an easy-to-read sliding indicator that stays on the maximum recorded weight make it easy to read. It measures in 2 ounce increments and is accurate to +/- 2 ounces. The trigger scale is a great tool for adjusting triggers to ensure accuracy and maintain safety.
The starting weight designates the pressure necessary on the trigger tail to fire the shot. It is measured in single and double action (the double action being necessarily more substantial because it is used to cock the hammer first and then to strike the striker secondly). A starting point that is too heavy is a characteristic that is often found on combat weapons (it reduces the risk of accidental fire starting) but is disabling in sports shooting because the greater pressure it causes requires increases weapon movement and decreases accuracy. Conversely, if the starting weight is too light, the shot will go off much too easily, which will also impact target accuracy.
